The best way to find out more about is to come along one Sunday and meet us.  In the meantime, here's a little bit of information about our history...

In October 2017, Sketty Baptist Church and Woodlands Church joined together to form a new church.  We decided to give ourselves a new identity as a united church, and since June 2018 we have been known as Sketty Community Church.

The main church building is over 100 years old and has a rich history.  Some of the older folk in the church today have been worshipping on this site for over 80 years!

The main church building was built in 1913 but was actually designed to be the Sunday School Hall.  The large lawn at the front of the site is where the main church building was going to be built. However, war broke out the following year and stopped the building plans.  As a result, the Sunday School Hall became the main church building.

Many years later, what is now the church hall was added at the rear of the site.

Woodlands Church was started in 1998 by Parklands Church, which was a thriving church not far away in Sketty Park.

Woodlands Church started in a building in the grounds of Cefn Coed Hospital, but when the site was due to be redeveloped, moved to Gors Primary School in Townhill.

The current church has 4 on the leadership team. One of the leaders, Paul Mort (aka Monty), is employed as a part-time pastor.

We are affiliated to the Baptist Union and South Wales Baptist Association

We are members of the Evangelical Alliance.

Back in 1912 when the idea of a new church in Sketty was being discussed, they developed a very "modern" slogan: for the spiritual and physical well being of young families in Tycoch (Tycoch, the local name for the area we are in, within Sketty). We still seek to champion this aim.

Paul and Kim Mort - our current minister and his wife. Paul is usually/often/always referred to as... Monty.
